After a training phase on your existing edits, Imagen AI applies your look to new photos in the cloud. The result is a mature, cloud-accelerated editing workflow that integrates cleanly with Lightroom Classic.
LrGeniusAI: broader workflow, zero cost
LrGeniusAI bundles AI keywording, captions, semantic free-text search, face recognition, culling, and experimental editing in one Lightroom-native plugin — at no cost and without sending your photos to any external server (when using a local AI model, built in or via Ollama/LM Studio). For photographers who need the full AI metadata workflow alongside editing, LrGeniusAI covers more ground for less money.
LrGeniusAI's AI Edit is still in beta and not a production replacement for Imagen AI's mature style-transfer engine. It also works differently: every recipe is blended from the edits you saved yourself, so it needs at least five training examples before it will run and calls no language model at all. New in LrGeniusAI: aesthetic scores and AI agents
LrGeniusAI scores every photo for how good it looks (AestheticSigLIP, 1 to 9, plus a genre). You can search with it, list your best photos with no search term at all, and culling uses it to order frames within a group.
LrGeniusAI can also be driven by an AI assistant. Through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Claude Code, Claude Desktop, LM Studio, Cursor and other MCP apps can search your catalog, cull, rate, keyword, fill collections and change develop settings in Lightroom itself. Everything runs on your computer, and with a local model nothing leaves it. An agent works on its own and can be wrong on many photos at once, so there is a read-only mode and a stop button, and you should back up your catalog first.
