Aftershoot is trusted by a large community of wedding and event photographers who cull hundreds or thousands of frames per shoot. Its AI is trained specifically on culling tasks — detecting blur, duplicate frames, closed eyes, and unflattering expressions — and improves over time as you train it on your own selections. The editing component applies your personal style to approved picks with minimal manual intervention.
LrGeniusAI: broader workflow, zero cost
LrGeniusAI bundles culling alongside AI keywording, semantic search, face recognition, captions, and edit recipes in one Lightroom-native plugin. For photographers who need all of those features and don't want to pay for multiple subscriptions, LrGeniusAI covers the entire AI metadata and selection workflow at no cost. Because it's open-source, you can also inspect or contribute to the code.

New in LrGeniusAI: aesthetic scores and AI agents
Aftershoot grades frames on technical criteria such as blur and closed eyes. LrGeniusAI does that too, and in addition scores every photo for how good it looks (AestheticSigLIP, 1 to 9). You can search with it, list your best photos with no search term at all, and culling uses it to order frames within a group.
LrGeniusAI can also be driven by an AI assistant. Through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Claude Code, Claude Desktop, LM Studio, Cursor and other MCP apps can search your catalog, cull, rate, keyword, fill collections and change develop settings in Lightroom itself. Everything runs on your computer, and with a local model nothing leaves it. An agent works on its own and can be wrong on many photos at once, so there is a read-only mode and a stop button, and you should back up your catalog first.
